TRAVEL DATE!!!!!!!

Our wonderful agency was able to remedy the birth certificate mistake and squeeze us into our originally planned travel date of April 16th. We are so excited and grateful that we are able to go so early. After the birth certificate problem, I was sure we would have to wait until May to meet our girl. We asked our church and our friends to pray on our behalf that the problem would be fixed and we could go on as planned. GOD ANSWERS PRAYERS, we are going next Wednesday to get our daughter.

We are happily packing and planning our trip. Everything is falling into place and God's work is evident to us.

Another Snag

Another snag, SJ's birth certificate has the wrong birthdate. We were supposed to have received a travel date by last Wednesday, 3/26. Birth certificates are running 1 week behind in Ethiopia and now ours is wrong. Our social worker said we cannot be given a travel date without the corrected certficate, so add on at least another week.
I am so sad because J, who I had so looked forward to travelling with, is going on 4/17. I doubt we'll make that trip. It's going to be rough until we get a date, I'm just so sad. I am sad that we're delayed in meeting our girl. I am sad because I want to know when we leave. I am sad because I want to travel with J. I am sad that I sit here for at least 2 more weeks over a silly mistake. Be warned, I'm grumpy and will remain so.

International Family

I was thumbing through our new Ethiopian cookbook (thanks Heidi and Karen!) looking for ideas for SJ's first days home. I got to thinking about our beautifully international family. We've got a Danish Granny, Filipina Auntie, Lola, and kids, and our upcoming addition from Ethiopia. Lumpia, doro wat and mashed 'taters all on the table at holidays, it doesn't get much better!
Add in our friends and we have Korea, Mexico and China in the house!

More Sleepless Nights

I am an occassional insomniac. It comes and goes and usually ties in with major life events. So, here I am again, about to travel to Ethiopia to get our daughter and the insomnia is back. Did I mention that I am a beast without sleep!? Tylenol PM and a warm bath, maybe that will work...

News of our girl!

A wonderful lady who recently returned from Ethiopia with her daugther, Mihiret, sent a message about our daughter. A small bit of information from a stranger who saw SJ while half a world away! Amazing. Thank you Father God.

Because He Lives

Happy Easter! We celebrated with the B family over at our place. A lovely lunch followed by an Egg Hunt. Granny and Papa came over to drop off B's basket and visited some too. In the evening, our church cell group came over to play. The kids had so much fun, it's a blast being the mama of a little boy. I got a little weepy wishing S could be with us too...

Waiting Some More...

We were so relieved to hear on March 12th (Olivia's birthday!) that we had gotten through court! SJ is officially our daughter! Happy happy joy joy!
After getting through court, we wait again. Now we are waiting for SJ's birth certificate and a travel date. Time seems to drag on, I try to fill my time with fun and friends, but still can't distract myself enough.
Super Daddy just got back from a ski trip to VT. Super Daddy brought the kids (yes, I'm a mom of TWO!) books from a little bookstore there. I was so touched that he had thought of SJ while on his trip.
